On this page, you will find information related to 27 pesticides that the Government of India is proposing to ban for import and sale in India. The draft ban order was put out on May 18th 2020 and feedback is being sought till August 15th 2020.

Pesticides industry immediately swung into action and got amendments put out in the notification on 13th June 2020 and ensured that manufacture for export is allowed.

When the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers wrote on behalf of the industry to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Alliance for Sustainable & Holistic Agriculture wrote to the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals demanding that it withdraw its letter.

Here are some useful resources that will explain the background to the current developments and also why the Government needs to go ahead with this proposal.
